Best Business Bank Accounts
Best Business Bank Accounts of 2026: Compare Features, Fees and Reviews
The best business bank account is one that supports how your business receives money, pays people and keeps records. Start with the services you need, then compare the exact account's fees, eligibility and operating conditions—not just its monthly price or advertised rewards.
This guide compares ten accounts covered by FinanceProspector's provider reviews, from digital accounts with payment and bookkeeping tools to branch-based accounts with cash-deposit services. Each recommendation below identifies a documented use case rather than declaring one account best for every business.
Quick Answer
Choose the account around the work your business needs to do: receiving payments, depositing cash, managing employee access or keeping books. Confirm eligibility first, then compare the exact plan's fees and service conditions. A separate paid plan, card, savings account or investment product is not automatically included in base checking.
Compare 10 Business Bank Accounts
The order below follows the published feature-score averages, including FinanceProspector's established tie order. The averages cover different feature sets. They are not overall provider ratings or a like-for-like measure of every account's quality.
| Provider | Account Reviewed | Monthly Account Fee | Published Feature-Score Average |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mercury | Base | $0 | — Average of 5 Feature Scores |
| Rho | Business Checking | $0 | — Average of 5 Feature Scores |

A $0 monthly fee does not mean every service is free. Transfer charges, cash-deposit fees, payment processing, card orders and optional subscriptions can change your cost. Account approval, service enrollment and transaction limits are separate from pricing.
Our Business Banking Picks by Use Case
These selections match documented capabilities to a defined need within our ten-account review set. They are recommendations for comparison, not exclusive awards or a claim that omitted accounts cannot serve the same business. They are independent of the feature-average display order.
| Use Case | Accounts to Compare |
|---|---|
| Low-Fee Domestic Payments | Mercury and Rho |
| Interest-Bearing Checking | Grasshopper and Bluevine |
| Invoicing and Built-In Bookkeeping | Found and Novo |
| Cash Deposits and Branch Access | Chase and Bank of America |
| Team Roles and Spending Controls | Mercury, Grasshopper, Bluevine, Found, Slash, Chase and Bank of America |
| Fund Organization | Rho, Bluevine, Found and Novo; the structures differ |
The provider summaries below explain the supporting features and conditions. For team spending, distinguish included debit cards, charge cards and separately approved corporate cards. For fund organization, compare the structure rather than treating every Pocket, Reserve and sub-account as the same product.
FinanceProspector's Take: Choose Around Your Hardest-to-Replace Workflow
List the functions your business cannot operate without: cash deposits, a specific payment route, restricted bookkeeper access or a particular accounting connection. Confirm those first. A convenient extra feature is less useful if the account does not support the transaction you need every week.
The Accounts in Detail
Mercury Base: Digital Payments and Team Workflows
Mercury's base plan combines a $0 monthly subscription with ordinary dashboard ACH, domestic wires, invoicing and team permissions. Banking services are provided through partner banks; Mercury is a financial technology company.
Included Features
- Ordinary dashboard ACH and incoming and outgoing domestic wires have no Mercury provider fee.
- Team permissions and included debit cards support delegated account use.
- Base invoicing and documented accounting connections support financial workflows.
Account Conditions
Cash deposits are not accepted. Payment cutoffs, available limits and review still apply. Invoice collection by ACH debit and some enhanced functions require paid plans. Treasury, charge cards and loans are separate products with their own terms. A $0 standard USD international-wire fee does not guarantee that intermediary banks deduct nothing.
Use the review to distinguish the base account from additional products and to check partner-bank-dependent payment availability.

Rho Business Checking: Domestic Payments and Connected Finance Tools
Rho combines checking, bill pay, invoicing and additional checking sub-accounts without a monthly checking fee. Its documented domestic-payment routes include standard ACH, eligible same-day ACH and domestic wires at $0 provider charges.
Included Features
- Bill-pay and invoicing tools accompany the checking workflow.
- Additional checking sub-accounts can organize operating funds.
- User permissions and approval controls support team review.
Account Conditions
Check Rho's current entity and industry requirements before applying. Corporate cards require separate approval; do not assume that checking includes an employee spending card. Savings and Treasury are separate products. International-payment and foreign-exchange charges require separate attention.
Compare Rho around your entity's eligibility and the functions included in checking rather than assuming every connected product is part of the account.
Grasshopper Innovator: Interest-Bearing Checking With Debit-Card Tools
Grasshopper Innovator Business Checking is provided directly by Grasshopper Bank, N.A., Member FDIC. It combines interest-bearing checking, physical and virtual debit cards and documented digital payment services without a monthly maintenance fee.
Included Features
- Standard and same-day ACH are listed as complimentary.
- Physical and virtual debit cards include documented controls.
- Select deposit-enabled MoneyPass ATMs accept cash deposits.
Account Conditions
A $100 opening deposit is required. Grasshopper's fee schedule lists $10 per outgoing domestic wire, while its checking-page footnote lists $5. Confirm the applicable charge with the bank before comparing costs. Checking interest follows published balance tiers, and rates can change. Cashback is conditional, including a qualifying balance requirement and eligible purchases. Not every MoneyPass ATM accepts deposits. Named software connections do not establish free subscriptions or unrestricted two-way synchronization.
Compare the checking account's current rate disclosure separately from Innovator Money Market Savings and any separately elected deposit-placement service.

Bluevine Standard: Conditional Checking Interest and Cash-Organization Tools
Bluevine Standard combines a $0 monthly subscription with sub-accounts, included invoicing and third-party cash-deposit routes. Bluevine is a fintech; its banking services are provided by Coastal Community Bank, Member FDIC.
Included Features
- Up to five sub-accounts support fund organization.
- Standard ACH and incoming domestic wires carry no Bluevine fee.
- Documented invoicing and QuickBooks Online connections support payment and bookkeeping workflows.
Account Conditions
Checking interest requires qualifying activity during the applicable eligibility period and is subject to the stated balance cap. Cash deposits and faster payment routes carry charges. Confirm deposit availability and holds for your account. Paid accounting offers and promotional software subscriptions are separate from base checking.
Check whether your routine card spending or client-payment receipts satisfy the interest rules before including yield in your budget.

Found Free Base: Invoicing, Bookkeeping and Pockets
Found's free base plan brings checking-related tools, invoicing, expense categorization and financial reports into one workflow. Banking services are provided by Lead Bank, Member FDIC.
Included Features
- Up to 20 Pockets, with individual account numbers, support fund organization.
- Unlimited invoicing, including recurring invoices, is included in the base plan.
- Admin, Cardholder and Accountant roles separate different responsibilities.
Account Conditions
Interest is a paid-plan benefit rather than an included base-plan benefit. Additional physical cards cost $5 each, while virtual cards are free. Connected Accounts transaction imports require a paid plan. Confirm payment-processing charges and deposit eligibility separately from the subscription price.
For someone helping with the books, check Accountant permissions before granting money-movement access.
Novo Business Checking: Bookkeeping and Reserve Allocations
Novo combines a $0 monthly maintenance fee with included bookkeeping, invoicing and Reserves. Banking services are provided by Middlesex Federal Savings, F.A., Member FDIC; Novo is not a bank.
Included Features
- Up to 20 Reserves support allocating money for different purposes.
- Invoicing and bookkeeping are included at no additional subscription charge.
- The help center documents automatic transaction connections to QuickBooks Online, Xero and FreshBooks.
Account Conditions
Confirm the permissions granted before adding another user; this guide does not establish a restricted bookkeeper role. Wire availability, limits and fees are disclosed before a transfer is submitted. Express ACH and separate payment-processing services can carry charges. Reserves are budgeting allocations, not separate interest-bearing savings accounts.
Export the records your business needs before closing an account, and confirm the provider's current retention and access terms.
Lili Core: Base Checking With Retail Cash-Deposit Access
Lili Core offers checking without a monthly fee, minimum opening deposit or minimum balance. Lili is a fintech; banking services and the Visa debit card are provided through Sunrise Banks, N.A., Member FDIC.
Included Features
- Standard outgoing ACH and incoming domestic wires have $0 Lili provider fees.
- Participating retailers support the documented cash-deposit route.
- MoneyPass ATM withdrawals carry no Lili fee.
Account Conditions
Retailer cash-deposit fees and limits apply. Outgoing wires, Express ACH and mailed checks have separate charges. Core checking does not earn interest. Built-in invoicing and Bill Pay require Smart or Premium; Tax Bucket is also a paid-plan feature. Confirm the accounting connection's plan requirements and sync behavior before relying on it.
Evaluate Core on its own terms rather than treating a marketing dashboard's paid tools as included features.
Slash Free: Virtual Cards, Roles and Accounting Feeds
Slash Free provides a $0 monthly subscription, unlimited virtual cards, custom roles, accounting feeds and API tools. Banking services are provided by Column N.A., Member FDIC; Slash is a fintech.
Included Features
- Owner, Admin, Employee, Accountant and custom roles support delegated responsibilities.
- Accounting feeds name QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Sage, FreshBooks and Wave.
- API access supports documented card and spending-limit functions.
Account Conditions
Slash describes its Platinum card as a charge card with the balance due in full daily. Outgoing domestic wires and eligible same-day ACH carry separate fees on Free. Confirm physical-card charges and any required cash or paper-check workflow before applying. Mobile check deposit is request-only beta. Deposit accounts do not earn interest; Treasury is separate.
Match spending limits to the cash available for daily repayment. Unlimited virtual cards does not establish an unlimited number of users.
Bank of America Fundamentals: Branch Services and Employee Debit Cards
Business Advantage Fundamentals Banking combines branch and ATM banking with employee debit cards, user permissions, Bill Pay and orderable paper checks. The account is provided by Bank of America, N.A., Member FDIC.
Included Features
- Cash deposits are supported through financial centers and Bank of America ATMs.
- Customized online permissions and employee debit cards support team access.
- Bill Pay and paper-check options support different payment workflows.
Account Conditions
The ongoing monthly fee is $16 unless a qualifying waiver applies; introductory monthly-fee treatment is separate. The first $5,000 in cash per statement cycle has no cash-processing fee, followed by the documented excess-cash charge. The 20-item allowance has exclusions and is not a limit of 20 total transactions. Checking does not earn interest.
The bank's current checking page says no opening deposit is required, while its Clarity Statement lists $100. Confirm the requirement for your application rather than treating one figure as universally settled.

Chase Business Complete: Branch Banking and Route-Specific Cash Deposits
Chase Business Complete Banking combines digital access with branches, Chase ATMs, Bill Pay, paper checks and employee-card options. The account is provided by JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A., Member FDIC.
Included Features
- Chase ATM cash deposits have no cash-deposit charge.
- Associate employee spending cards and deposit-only Employee Deposit Cards serve different roles.
- Separate online user profiles support permissions and transaction controls.
Account Conditions
The ongoing monthly fee is $15 unless a qualifying waiver applies. The $2,000 balance waiver uses a minimum daily ending balance, not a monthly average. Specified non-ATM cash routes share a $5,000 statement-period allowance before excess charges apply. Optional ACH Payment Services requires enrollment and has sending fees. Checking does not earn interest.
Compare the cash-deposit route you will actually use, and count chargeable banker activity and written checks separately from the listed electronic activity.
Understand the Account Structure Before Organizing Funds
A business may need a separate account number for incoming payments, an internal allocation for budgeting, restricted access for an employee or a separate account for another legal entity. These are different requirements.
Rho and Bluevine document checking sub-accounts. Found's Pockets have individual account numbers. Novo Reserves are internal allocations within one checking account. Creating more buckets does not establish separate legal ownership or additional deposit-insurance coverage.
FinanceProspector's Take: Define What You Mean by Separate
Write down what separation your workflow requires before comparing account counts. Confirm the account owner, routing and account-number structure, transfer behavior and user permissions. Do not assume that a budgeting label restricts spending or that an internal allocation can receive payments as a separate account.
Check the Exact Software Workflow
A bank feed, CSV export, payment connection and two-way accounting sync are different functions. Confirm which records move, in which direction, how often and whether additional software or a paid plan is needed.
For a bookkeeper, check permission to view reports separately from permission to move money. For customer invoices, distinguish creating the invoice from processing a card payment or collecting by ACH debit. For vendor bills, check approval routing and payment charges separately from the accounting connection.
How to Compare Account Fees
Use a typical month of actual business activity as a checklist. Identify the monthly account fee, the waiver you expect to meet, payment-method charges and cash or transaction allowances. Add optional tools only when your business plans to use them.
| Cost or Condition | What to Compare |
|---|---|
| Monthly Account Fee | Ongoing price, exact waiver conditions and the end of introductory treatment |
| Required Funding | Mandatory opening deposit versus recommended funding; funding deadlines and availability |
| ACH | Standard and expedited pricing, enrollment, cutoffs and account-specific limits |
| Domestic Wires | Incoming versus outgoing charges and online versus banker-assisted routes |
| International Payments | Currency, provider fee, conversion cost, intermediary deductions and recipient amount |
| Cash | Deposit route, statement-period allowance, per-transaction limits and retailer/operator charges |
| Checks and Cards | Deposit eligibility, mailed-check charges, physical-card costs and processing fees |
| Team and Software | Included permissions versus paid tools, separate subscriptions and implementation needs |
Opening-deposit requirements are not interchangeable with monthly-fee waiver balances. Grasshopper's reviewed $100 opening deposit funds the account. Novo lists no minimum opening deposit. Chase's daily-balance waiver and Bank of America's combined-average-balance waiver use different calculations.
FinanceProspector's Take: Choose the Waiver Before Budgeting the Savings
Use a waiver only when your normal operations can meet its exact conditions. Keeping enough cash on the last day of the month is different from maintaining a daily minimum. Avoiding a monthly fee also does not remove cash-processing, wire or optional-service charges.
Compare Interest and Rewards Separately
Grasshopper and Bluevine's reviewed checking accounts offer interest subject to their respective terms. Compare the current disclosure, applicable balance tiers or caps and any required activity before estimating earnings. Rates can change, and fees can reduce earnings.
Compare the same product type. A separate savings account, paid plan or investment product should not be shown as the reviewed checking account's APY.
Cashback is a different benefit from deposit interest. Purchase eligibility, balance qualifications, excluded merchants, repayment rules and redemption requirements can affect the amount available. Do not apply an advertised maximum rate to every dollar of spending without checking those conditions.
This guide does not identify a highest-yield account. A yield comparison requires current, comparable rate disclosures for the same product type and balance scenario.
Deposit Protection: Identify the Bank and the Arrangement
Grasshopper, Bank of America and Chase provide the reviewed accounts directly as banks. Mercury, Rho, Bluevine, Found, Novo, Lili and Slash are platforms whose banking arrangements must be read alongside the relevant bank and program agreements.
FDIC deposit insurance generally covers eligible deposits up to $250,000 per depositor, per insured bank, per ownership category when an insured bank fails. Multiple accounts at the same bank in the same ownership category generally share that limit.
When money is held through a third party, pass-through coverage depends on applicable ownership, disclosure and recordkeeping conditions. A sweep program can place deposits across multiple banks, but advertised capacity is not an unconditional personal coverage guarantee. Other deposits at participating banks in the same ownership category can affect available coverage.
FDIC insurance does not insure a nonbank platform's failure or guarantee uninterrupted access. It also does not turn a separate investment product into an insured deposit.
Before applying, identify the bank holding your deposits, read the account and sweep terms, and check whether another account you hold uses the same underlying bank. Use current program documents rather than assuming an old list of partner banks is complete.
FinanceProspector's Take: Compare Coverage and Access as Two Questions
First establish how eligible deposits are insured. Then establish how your business would obtain statements, contact support and make essential payments if its usual interface were unavailable. A higher advertised sweep capacity answers neither question on its own.
How We Selected and Compared These Accounts
This guide draws on FinanceProspector's ten provider reviews, supplemented by a current-source verification pass in October 2026. The direct sources below support the account terms retained here. Details that could not be established from the retrieved sources were narrowed or omitted; a source conflict is identified where relevant. It focuses on the named base plan or account. Paid upgrades, relationship benefits, savings, credit and investment products are identified separately where relevant.
The featured set is our reviewed ten-provider group, not an assessment of every U.S. business account. We did not open or transact through every account for this article, and provider screenshots are not evidence of hands-on testing.
Feature scores cover defined comparisons under FinanceProspector's editorial methodology. Each displayed average gives equal weight to that review's included feature scores. The display scale runs from 7.5 to 9.5, with values shown out of 10. Reviews include different numbers and combinations of scored features; unresolved or unscored dimensions are not assigned zero.
The table order follows the published averages and the established tie order. It does not establish that a higher average makes an account better for every business. The business-priority groupings in this guide are editorial interpretations of documented capabilities, not additional scores or proof of superior outcomes.
We have not introduced a new percentage-weighted ranking, a customer-service score or a safety ranking. This article presents no new account-opening experiment, approval-rate study or customer-outcome research.
Switching Business Bank Accounts: A Practical Checklist
- Confirm eligibility, open the new account and complete verification.
- Fund it and check when deposits become available.
- Set permissions, alerts, cards and payment approvals.
- Test the payment and deposit methods your business uses.
- Update merchant-processing payouts and customer payment instructions through verified channels.
- Move payroll funding, taxes, recurring bills and other debits in stages.
- Keep enough money in the old account for outstanding checks, adjustments and recurring activity.
- Reconcile both accounts and export statements and bookkeeping records before closing.
- Close the old account only after outstanding activity is resolved and its closing requirements are met.
There is no universal number of days that makes every switch complete. Use the outstanding activity and the providers' terms rather than assuming a fixed 30- or 60-day window is sufficient.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Higher Feature-Score Average Mean the Account Is Better for My Business?
Not necessarily. Read which features were scored and compare them with your required services. An unscored feature is unresolved or outside that review's scored set, not automatically missing or poor.
Should I Use More Than One Business Bank Account?
Consider whether a second account solves a defined need, such as a deposit route or operating backup. Review each account's fees, access arrangements and reconciliation work. Multiple accounts at the same underlying bank do not automatically create additional insurance coverage.
Can My Business Qualify for Every Account in This Guide?
No. Eligibility varies by entity, industry, ownership, residency and provider. A recommendation based on features is not an eligibility decision or approval guarantee.
What if an Advertised Feature Is Not Available in My Account?
Check the selected plan, enrollment status, eligibility and account-specific limits with the provider. Keep existing payment arrangements working until the service your business needs is active and tested.
Where Should I Start if I Have Not Opened a Business Account Before?
Use our How to Open a Business Bank Account guide to prepare identity, taxpayer, business and ownership information. Confirm the chosen provider's current checklist before applying.
