Bluevine Business Bank Review

Bluevine Business Checking Review (2026): Fees, APY, Pros & Cons

Bluevine Standard Plan

This review covers Standard, with paid plans and separate products identified where relevant. Research draws on official pricing, account terms, support documentation and public-site observations. Website observations describe public pages rather than account performance.

Bluevine Banking Quick Verdict

Who Is Bluevine Standard Best For? Bluevine Standard suits consultants, online sellers and small teams that want checking and payment tools together. Its appeal is the combination of interest eligibility, separate cash buckets and invoicing—not simply a low subscription price.

Check Your Business Needs: Businesses needing frequent large cash deposits, unusually high transfer limits or guaranteed immediate access to check deposits should compare those operating requirements before applying. The most useful decision is whether your normal activity fits the account’s eligibility rules and funding routes; the sections below show the costs and limits involved.

Average of 7 Feature Scores: 9.2/10

This average covers payment costs, account fees, cash access and business tools:

  • Domestic Transfer Costs — 9.3/10: Standard ACH, outgoing domestic wire and incoming domestic wire charges.
  • Monthly and Overdraft Fees — 9.5/10: The monthly subscription and overdraft fees; other charges are outside this measure.
  • Cash Deposit and ATM Access — 9.5/10: A documented cash-deposit route and withdrawals without a provider fee within a named ATM network.
  • Payment Options — 9.5/10: International payments, dashboard bill payments, mailed checks and checks you write.
  • Invoicing and Accounting Connections — 9.5/10: Included invoicing and supported automatic accounting sync.
  • Outgoing USD International Wire Fee — 8.7/10: The $25 provider fee for an international payment in USD.
  • Expedited ACH Fee — 8.3/10: The $10 provider fee for a $1,000 same-day ACH payment.

Bluevine Standard Business Checking: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • No Monthly Maintenance Fee: Standard's $0 monthly fee can suit businesses with uneven revenue because maintaining the account does not create a recurring monthly charge during periods with little customer activity.
  • Interest-Earning Business Checking: Qualifying businesses can earn interest while retaining operating funds for upcoming expenses. This may benefit owners who prefer keeping working capital in checking rather than regularly transferring it to savings.
  • Up to Five Business Sub-Accounts: Separate balances can help owners organize funds for taxes, payroll and operating expenses. Assigning each sub-account a clear purpose makes it easier to assess whether upcoming obligations are funded.
  • Integrated Invoicing and Payment Tools: Included invoicing and payment links let businesses evaluate their billing needs before purchasing separate software. Payment processing charges still apply, and full bookkeeping requires additional services.
  • Expanded FDIC Deposit Insurance Coverage: Eligible deposits can receive up to $3 million in FDIC coverage through Bluevine's partner-bank sweep program, subject to placement and insurance conditions. This may benefit businesses maintaining balances above standard single-bank limits.

Cons

  • Interest Requires Qualifying Monthly Activity: Standard's interest eligibility depends on qualifying card spending or customer payments. Businesses should compare potential earnings with their normal activity rather than make unnecessary purchases solely to qualify.
  • Cash Deposit Fees and Third-Party Locations: Cash deposits require supported third-party locations, with fees and transaction limits. Businesses handling cash regularly should consider deposit frequency, travel time and available locations alongside the published charges.
  • Paid Plans Require a Cost-Benefit Analysis: Plus and Premier offer higher advertised APYs and reduced transaction charges but introduce monthly subscriptions unless waiver conditions are met. Businesses should compare realistic additional earnings and savings against any payable subscription.
  • Same-Day ACH and Wire Transfer Fees: Standard ACH is free, but expedited ACH and outgoing wires carry charges. Businesses that frequently need urgent or wire payments may find those costs outweigh the benefit of having no monthly maintenance fee.
  • Standard Interest Is Capped at $250,000: Even when monthly activity requirements are met, Standard earns interest only on balances up to $250,000. Businesses holding more should compare the return on their full balance and the costs of other plans or separate reserve accounts.

FinanceProspector Feature Scores

Each number assesses the specified fees or documented capabilities. These are separate feature comparisons, not a score for customer-service quality, app reliability or the account as a whole.

A high access score does not make cash deposits free or remove withdrawal ceilings. International payments remain conditional, and accounting sync covers supported actions rather than every update. Read FinanceProspector Editorial Methodology.

Bluevine Standard Fees and Transaction Charges

The fee schedule matters most when your business handles cash, accelerates payments or sends money abroad.

Bluevine Standard Fees and Transaction Charges
ActivityStandard Charge
Overdraft and Non-Sufficient Funds Fees$0; this is not an overdraft borrowing facility
Standard ACH, Sent or Received$0 Bluevine fee
Incoming Domestic Wire$0 Bluevine fee
Outgoing International Payment in USD$25
Outgoing International Payment in Foreign Currency$25 plus 1.5% of the transfer amount
Allpoint+ Cash Deposit$1 plus 0.5% of the deposit amount
MoneyPass ATM Withdrawal$0 Bluevine fee
Out-of-Network ATM Transaction$2.50, plus any operator fee; an incomplete transaction can still incur the provider fee
Regular Debit-Card Shipping$0
Expedited Card Replacement$30

Green Dot Deposits: The account agreement lists $4.95 per deposit; the support fee table says “up to $4.95.” Check the charge for the transaction rather than treating those two descriptions as a confirmed universal price.

Dormancy: Subject to applicable law, an account and its sub-accounts that are inactive for six months following opening, or inactive for twelve months, may incur a one-time aggregate $10 fee. If their combined balance is below $10, the fee is limited to the remaining balance. Dormant accounts may also be closed or become subject to state unclaimed-property rules.

Checks You Write: After funding the account or a sub-account with at least $1, Standard customers are eligible for one free checkbook per account lifetime. Additional orders start at $30, excluding tax and shipping, with prices subject to change. The agreement reserves issuing and signing paper checks to the Account Owner.

Bluevine Standard, Plus and Premier Compared

The paid plans change both balance earnings and selected payment costs. Compare the subscription after any waiver with the activity you actually expect to use.

Printed-and-Mailed Checks$1.50 eachFirst 5 per month free; then $1.50 eachFirst 20 per month free; then $1.50 each

Fee Waivers: Plus requires an average daily checking/sub-account balance of at least $20,000 and at least $2,000 in qualifying card spending per billing period. Premier requires $100,000 and $5,000, respectively. The agreement counts qualifying Business Debit or Business Cashback Mastercard spending and excludes ATM transactions. Meeting only one requirement does not waive the fee.

When Can a Paid Plan Save on Domestic Wires?

If neither subscription is waived, Plus saves $3 per outgoing domestic wire compared with Standard. Ten wires offset its $30 subscription; at eleven, Plus becomes cheaper for that activity. Premier saves $7.50 per wire and becomes cheaper than Standard at thirteen wires: $192.50 including the subscription versus $195.

This wire-only comparison excludes interest, other transactions and any fee waiver. It does not establish which plan has the lowest total cost for your business.

FinanceProspector’s Take — Compare Paid Plans After Any Fee Waiver
Separate subscription savings from transaction savings. A paid plan’s waiver requires both the specified balance and qualifying card spending. If the subscription remains payable, compare it with the payment-fee savings you expect; lower individual transaction fees do not automatically mean a lower total cost.

How Bluevine Standard Checking Interest Works

Standard’s interest depends on activity, not just leaving money in the account. During the applicable monthly eligibility period, meet at least one of these requirements:

  • Qualifying Card Spending: At least $500 in Business Debit Mastercard and/or Business Cashback Mastercard purchases, excluding ATM transactions.
  • Client Payments: At least $2,500 received through ACH, wire, mobile deposit or a transfer from a merchant payment processor. Cash deposits, your own-account transfers and checks drawn on your own accounts do not satisfy this path.

Transactions must post and settle within the eligibility period. The period has its own boundary rather than simply ending at calendar month-end; verify it in your account before relying on a last-day payment. Reversals or payments later determined not to qualify can affect eligibility. Missing both requirements means 0% APY for that month, and Standard balances above the stated interest cap do not earn interest.

FinanceProspector’s Take — Make Interest Qualification Part of Your Routine
Holding a balance alone does not qualify Standard for interest. Check whether your normal card spending or client-payment receipts meet a documented monthly requirement. Transfers between your own accounts do not satisfy the client-payment route, so moving existing funds is not a substitute for qualifying receipts.

What Does That Yield Mean in Dollars?

At a constant 1.3% APY, a continuously eligible $10,000 balance would earn approximately $130 over a year; $50,000 would earn approximately $650. These annual illustrations assume the balance remains invested and the account qualifies throughout the year, before transaction fees. One outgoing domestic wire each month adds $180 in annual fees—more than the first balance’s illustrated earnings.

These are annual illustrations, not guaranteed payouts or equal monthly credits.

Bluevine Funding, Transfers and Access to Money

  • Receiving Money: Bluevine’s limits guide says ACH or wires sent directly from another bank have no incoming amount limit. Pulling funds from a linked external account through Bluevine is a different route: the agreement lists a $5,000 aggregate ceiling per 30 days, with availability, ownership and discretionary-limit conditions.
  • Sending Money: The agreement lists $20,000 per outgoing ACH transfer or wire and a combined $100,000 per 30-day limit across outgoing ACH and wires. Main-account and sub-account transfers are aggregated. Higher limits may be allowed at Bluevine’s discretion; consult the web dashboard for your actual limits.
  • Cash Deposits: Allpoint+ limits are $1,000 per deposit, $5,500 per day and $7,500 per 30 days. Green Dot allows four deposits per day, seven per week and twenty per month, with dollar ceilings of $2,000 per day, $4,000 per week and $7,500 per 30 days. Account/sub-account aggregation and third-party limits apply; do not assume separate route allowances are additive.
  • Cash Withdrawals: The agreement applies a combined $2,000 calendar-day limit to ATM withdrawals, cash received at point of sale and over-the-counter withdrawals.

Connecting an external account does not guarantee higher limits, quicker approval or shorter processing times. Bluevine directs customers to Checking → Account Details → Account Limits in the web dashboard; the limits guide says these figures are not viewable in the mobile app.

Mobile Check Deposit

The agreement lists up to $20,000 per rolling 30 days, with no limit on the number of checks per calendar day. Deposits across the main account and sub-accounts are aggregated, and Bluevine can change limits or permit higher amounts. Mobile check deposit availability is subject to Bluevine’s eligibility decision. Confirm access in your account before planning a deposit.

Ordinary checks cannot be deposited through ATMs or by mail. The agreement’s mailed-check exception concerns repayment of a negative balance. For a mobile deposit, use Bluevine’s availability notice: new-account or other holds can delay access to the money, and no single clearance time is guaranteed here.

Faster and International Payments

Same-day ACH requires funding from the Bluevine checking account or a sub-account and is offered at Bluevine’s discretion. Its fee can still apply after the cutoff or when scheduled for a later date, so confirm the dispatch date before paying for speed.

International payments are available to most businesses subject to eligibility, excluding businesses based in Nevada or in finance, insurance or mining under the captured disclosure. They must be funded from the Bluevine account, and third-party money-transmission terms apply.

Bluevine does not integrate with Zelle. It separately describes free instant transfers between Bluevine accounts through Bluevine Pay; that internal route is different from an external-bank transfer.

Organizing Money and Delegating Purchases

A small agency could use separate sub-accounts for taxes, payroll and operating expenses, then issue cards from the relevant account for purchasing. This is an illustrative way to organize funds, not a tested efficiency claim. The practical question is who will reconcile each account—especially when a bookkeeping connection does not support every sub-account action.

Bluevine supports additional users with individual sign-ins and adjustable access. Its card guide permits up to fifty active physical and virtual cards in total across the business, not per sub-account. Each holder may have one active physical card per main account or sub-account. Users must be active or recently invited and complete the required profiles; closed cards do not count toward the cap. The guide also documents daily and monthly spending controls.

Invoices and Payment Acceptance

Standard includes estimates, unlimited invoices and payment links, one automatic reminder per invoice, and recurring invoices with autopay enabled. Custom invoice fields are excluded from this plan.

Stripe processing charges are separate from creating an invoice: online cards and wallets cost 2.9% plus $0.60; online card-on-file payments cost 3.4% plus $0.60; ACH direct debit costs 1%; and in-person Tap to Pay cards and wallets cost 2.7% plus $0.30. Processing is subject to business eligibility. Tap to Pay also depends on compatible devices, current software and supported markets; transaction and card-acceptance limits can apply.

QuickBooks and Xero

The documented QuickBooks Online connection automatically syncs supported bills, transactions and payee information. What syncs depends on the action and where it originated; it is not universal two-way syncing. Setup uses the desktop or mobile web dashboard, and sub-account payment sync is not supported in the captured guidance.

Two Xero-powered offers serve different needs:

  • Xero Subscription: Eligible Standard customers can receive three months free on an eligible Early, Growing or Established subscription through the promotional link. It then renews at Xero’s standard rates unless canceled.
  • Bluevine Accounting: A separate, lightweight accounting service within Bluevine’s dashboard. The Standard promotion provides one free month, followed by $12 per month unless canceled.

The captured terms require signup by December 31, 2026, good standing and the applicable promotional link. The offer is limited to one per customer, cannot be combined with another Xero promotion, and may be changed or ended. Neither offer establishes that full bookkeeping is included free with Standard.

Bluevine Additional Products and Services

Treasury Investments

Standard and Plus customers need $50,000 across their main checking account and sub-accounts to gain access to Treasury; Premier removes that access threshold. This is a checking-balance requirement for access, not a $50,000 minimum investment in Treasury. The application appears in the dashboard after qualifying, which can take time.

Treasury is an investment service, not checking interest. Investments are not FDIC insured, not bank guaranteed and may lose value. The disclosures identify Bluevine Advisory and different brokerage/sub-advisory arrangements for accounts opened before versus after May 19, 2026. Review the terms for your opening date before comparing a quoted investment yield with checking APY.

Line of Credit and Partner Financing

The Bluevine Line of Credit is issued by Celtic Bank and serviced by Bluevine, subject to credit approval. Rates, credit lines, terms and fees vary. Other commercial credit products may be offered by third-party partners under their own eligibility requirements.

A checking approval is not a lending approval. Evaluate the credit offer’s repayment cost and conditions separately from deciding whether Standard is a suitable operating account.

Bluevine Eligibility and Application Requirements

Applicants must be at least eighteen, own or represent a U.S.-registered business, and satisfy identity and business verification. The application guide lists LLCs, corporations and partnerships for eligible U.S. and international owners. Sole proprietorships and nonprofits are listed for U.S.-based owners only.

Documents to Prepare

Bluevine’s application guide says you will be asked for the following:

  • Business Information: Your business’s name, address, business type, industry, annual revenue and EIN or tax ID. Sole proprietorships can provide an SSN instead.
  • Personal Information: Your full name, date of birth, physical home address and phone number. U.S.-based owners provide an SSN and may be asked to upload a driver’s license or passport. International owners provide passport information and must upload an image of their passport.
  • Additional Owners: The same identifying details, with ownership percentage, for each person who owns 25% or more of the business; for nonprofits, for anyone with substantial control over the business.

Bluevine may also ask for business registration documents to verify your business. It lists these by business type:

  • Sole Proprietorship: Doing Business As, Assumed, Fictitious or Trade Name Certificate; the title varies by state.
  • LLC: Articles of Organization, Certificate of Organization or Certificate of Formation.
  • Corporation: Articles of Incorporation, Certificate of Incorporation or Certificate of Formation.
  • General or Limited Partnership: A signed partnership agreement describing the management structure and the partners’ names, signatures, rights, duties, ownership interests and profit shares.

Uploaded documents must be photos of the originals in .jpg, .jpeg or .png format.

Application and Review

  1. Create Your Sign-In: Select your business entity type and enter your name, email address, mobile phone number and password.
  2. Tell Bluevine About Your Business: Enter your business details.
  3. Tell Bluevine About Yourself: Enter your personal details and confirm your ownership percentage and any additional owners or controllers.
  4. Verify Your Mobile Number: Enter the code Bluevine sends to your phone.

Upload identification documents as required for your application, including a passport image for international applicants. Provide details for any applicable additional owners or nonprofit controllers.

Bluevine then reviews the application and may ask for more information or documents before processing it.

Bluevine says most applications are reviewed within minutes. Some, including international applications, require additional processing time. Bluevine says applicants notified that their application is in review should hear back within 1–3 business days.

Approval is not guaranteed, supported-country restrictions apply to international owners, and not all features are available internationally. Industry restrictions include gambling, certain controlled substances, firearms-related businesses, money-service businesses and political campaigns; check the full list for your activities. Bluevine Support Channels and Contact Options

  • Phone: 888-216-9619. Agents are available Monday–Friday, 8 AM–8 PM ET, excluding Federal Reserve Bank holidays.
  • Account Support Email: banking.support@bluevine.com, as listed in the account agreement.
  • Live Chat: Available after signing in, during business hours.
  • Virtual Assistant: AI assistance is documented as available 24/7 through the dashboard or mobile app.
  • Card Reporting: The automated phone system accepts lost, stolen or damaged card reports at any time.

Premier’s priority phone queue requires calling from a number linked to the account; Standard does not include that feature. Automated assistance and card reporting should not be confused with round-the-clock human support.

Bluevine Account Security and Controls

Sign-In and Transaction Controls

  • Multi-Factor Authentication: Required for new or untrusted devices and sensitive profile actions, using a text code or app push notification. A trusted-device setting can avoid a code on that device.
  • Notifications: Configurable email alerts for low balances, larger card transactions and sent payments, plus text alerts for suspicious activity.
  • Card Lock: Physical and virtual cards can be locked and unlocked through the dashboard or app. The automated phone system can lock a card but cannot unlock it.
  • Debit Blocks: Standard includes check and ACH debit blocks. It does not include the paid-plan ACH preauthorization feature or ACH positive pay.

Bluevine Legal Disclosures and Deposit Protection

How Sweep Deposit Insurance Works

Eligible deposits can receive up to $3 million in FDIC coverage per depositor through Coastal Community Bank and program banks, subject to pass-through and sweep conditions. Coverage depends on placement at the participating banks; the sweep disclosure says funds can take up to three business days to reach a program bank.

Deposits you hold separately at the same bank in the same ownership capacity count toward that bank’s insurance limit. You are responsible for monitoring that total. Funds placed with an excess bank beyond its insured limit are not covered. Opting out leaves funds at Coastal and removes the sweep program’s extended coverage.

FDIC insurance protects against the failure of an insured bank. It does not insure Bluevine itself, investment losses or every type of loss involving an account.

For two domestic wires and one eligible same-day ACH payment, the published provider charges total $40 on Standard versus $13 on Slash Free. That $27 difference addresses only those payments. A business that also needs to deposit cash must weigh access separately; a team considering Slash must account for daily charge-card repayment.

Mercury: Domestic Transfer Costs

Mercury’s base plan includes free standard ACH and domestic wires sent or received. For businesses that regularly send domestic wires, compare the resulting payment costs with Bluevine Standard. Businesses receiving cash should weigh deposit access alongside those savings.

Novo: Routine Payments and Wire Eligibility

Novo supports standard ACH payments without a provider fee. If outgoing domestic wires are part of your regular workflow, confirm eligibility before choosing the account: the wire option appears in the app when access is available. Eligibility describes access, not the transaction price.

Chase Business Complete Banking: Physical Deposit Access

Chase’s branch and ATM deposit routes offer an alternative to Bluevine’s third-party cash-deposit locations. Its monthly service fee can be waived by meeting a qualifying condition, including maintaining a minimum daily ending balance of $2,000 each business day throughout the statement period. Frequently Asked Questions

Why Does Accepting an ACH Payment Cost Money When Standard ACH Is Free?

These are different services. Receiving a standard bank ACH transfer carries no Bluevine fee. Stripe’s ACH direct-debit processing collects a customer payment through an invoice or payment link and has its own processing charge. Match the customer’s payment method to the correct fee schedule.

Does a Free Checkbook Mean Bluevine Mails Vendor Checks for Free?

No. A checkbook gives you checks to write yourself; mailing a vendor payment from the dashboard is a separate service. Standard’s allowance for a free checkbook does not include the paid plans’ monthly quotas for printed-and-mailed check payments.

Can I Withdraw Cash at an ATM and Also Take Cash Back at a Store?

Both routes share the agreement’s daily cash-access ceiling. For example, a $1,500 ATM withdrawal leaves $500 within that $2,000 combined limit for other covered cash withdrawals that day. Cash received during a purchase is different from a card cashback reward.

Will Connecting Another Bank Automatically Raise My Bluevine Limits?

No. Bluevine’s external-account guide says a connection does not guarantee higher limits, faster approval or reduced processing times. Use the current limits shown for your account and request an increase through the available dashboard process rather than planning around an assumed approval.

Can I Qualify Next Month If I Don’t Earn Interest This Month?

Yes. Qualification is assessed separately for each eligibility period, so missing one month does not prevent later eligibility. Check posting dates: a transaction initiated in one period but settled after its boundary can count toward the following period instead.

Glossary of Terms

Terms Used in This Article
Billing Period
The interval used for a paid plan’s subscription and fee-waiver tests. The agreement ties the recurring charge to the enrollment date, so the billing period need not match a calendar month.
Eligibility Period
The transaction window used to determine Standard’s interest qualification. A payment must post and settle within that window to count; initiating it before the boundary is not enough.
Debit Block
A control for preventing specified withdrawals from an account. Check debit blocks and ACH debit blocks address different payment routes; having either is not the same as having every paid-plan fraud-control feature.
